Key learnings in Bhagavad Gita

Focus on work, not on results: We should focus on work, not on results. Because we can control our actions but result based on many factors. Success or achievement of something gives us happiness while failure gives us disappointment.

The practice of bearing pain and happiness: We should be able to bear extreme pain and happiness. Because an excess of both can take us to the wrong path.

Be kind and helpful: One person should be kind and helpful. Because we come across many different people, each one with their own sorrow and joy.

The truth of life: Death is for everyone who is born and birth is for everyone who is dead. Never get attached to your actions. This leads us to the cycle of birth and death.

Work for Others: Always work for your sake not for yourself. Working for something is business. One should perform their duty for welfare.

Free of sins: A person should be free from attraction, jealousy, anger, sorrow, fear etc.

Self Mastery: Be self-controlled, loving and full of the desire to serve. Also always be sincere and truthful.

Non-Violence: Do not harm any living creature, but be gentle and show goodwill to all.

By applying this knowledge of the Bhagavad Gita, we can make our day-to-day life happier and more productive.

Personal Experience

Most people in India, believe that the Bhagavad Gita has all the answers to the questions you’re looking for. So, if you have a question, you can open this book and pick up any random shloka which will answer your question.

However, I found many changes inside myself after listening to or Reading to Bhagavad Gita. Sharing some lessons I learned from it and how it changed me.

I Became More Calmer Than I Was Ever Before: When we are stuck in our head, then our mind is inclined towards negative thoughts. However, after reading the multiple shlokas about life, my focus shifted from negativity to the brighter side of life. I become kind, soft and calm, and I learn that the things I am obsessed with don’t matter.

I have now Less Desire which means Less Anxiety: Gita tells that human desires are the source of pain. Before reading the book, I had hundreds of desires. After reading the book, I have fewer desires. My current desires are purposeful, and meaningful, unlike before.

Understanding the sense of more significant purpose and fulfilment in my work: My focus was attached to the outcome of any work. After reading the book, I understand the importance of the process and not being attached to the outcome.

The understanding of life: No philosophy books will be enough to understand the complexity of life. Therefore, after reading this book, the attachment we feel to materialistic things reduces slowly, and we start expecting less from others and more from ourselves. I understand this from the Gita and it allowed me to forgive people, and be kind to strangers. However, the Bhagavad Gita also recognises the value of knowledge and encourages us to seek it. In addition, It encourages us to seek knowledge and wisdom. It highlights the importance of selfless action.

So, I will suggest everyone read this book once in life.
